For the most part, the Brooklyn Nets have assembled their roster for the 2016-17 season. Yes, there is a whole season to play, but who might the Nets target in 2017?

The Nets have added many players this offseason. Jeremy Lin, Randy Foye, Trevor Booker, Luis Scola, and Greivis Vasquez are just some of the players Brooklyn has brought in. Even as the roster sits, the Nets figure to have a tough run of things in the 2016-17 season. ESPN recently pegged Brooklyn to go 20-62 this upcoming season, which, in the ESPN ranking, is tied for last in the Eastern conference with the Philadelphia 76ers.

Unfortunately for the Nets, Boston will still control their draft pick next offseason, but what the Nets can control to a certain extent, is free agency. Sean Marks has not shied away from spending big money in the way of offer sheets. Even though it didn’t quite pan out for the Nets this offseason, Marks’ willingness to spend in the right situation should bode well for the Nets as future players in free agency.

The class of 2017 free agency will be huge, filled with stars and plenty of intrigue. Will the Nets be in play for superstars, or are they better off shopping for building blocks?
