Lowlights

Foye certainly did not have an outstanding season by any means. He played extended minutes for the Brooklyn Nets often, but he only cracked double digits in points 13 times. The lowest point for Foye may have been at the beginning of December when Foye had seemingly lost his way in the Nets’ rotation.

In the Nets’ first 12 games of December, Foye averaged around 10 minutes per game, while he was benched completely for four games. That turned around when he sunk the buzzer beater against the Hornets. He alluded to this struggle in his post-game interview after the Hornets game.

One game in which Foye struggled was against the Dallas Mavericks on March 10. Against the Mavericks’ high-octane guards, Foye had trouble keeping up defensively. He also shot 0-of-6 from the field and 0-of-4 from the three-point line in that game.

More from Nothin' But Nets

Another game in which Foye struggled was on Jan. 23 against the San Antonio Spurs. Foye played 30 minutes in the Nets’ 26-point loss, yet scored only one point.

Foye was definitely not a major player for the Brooklyn Nets. In the back end of his career, Foye has become a high-character veteran. He was a steady presence for the Nets this year amidst some disappointing stretches. During a season that featured some disappointing losses and seemingly hopeless situations, the presence of a veteran like Foye helped the Nets not lose their way, trying to avoid the building of a losing culture.

While his play may not have been the most enthralling, Foye provided one of the brightest highlights of the Nets’ season. The Hornets buzzer-beater ranks as one of the best moments of the season. Foye’s leadership may go unnoticed by fans, but could set an example for the Nets going forward.
