Brooklyn Nets vs. New York Knicks Player Grades and Reactions

The Brooklyn Nets have been on a roll to start off preseason play. After beating the Knicks and the Heat, the team took on the Knicks again, this time at the Barclays Center. The Nets blew out the Knicks 117-83. rnThe Brooklyn Nets went on a defensive tear and proved that the team could be the best team in New York. While the Knicks tried shooting their way out of a deficit, the Nets used their length to cause turnovers.rnrnAs a whole, the team had a great performance. Brooklyn has been playing at a high level this preseason. The veteran point guard put on a passing clinic with a game-high seven assists. In addition to it, he also grabbed three defensive rebounds.rnrnLin proved that he does not need to score in order for the Nets' offense to run smoothly. All he has to do is let the offense run its course.rnrnWhile his shooting night was disappointing, he should bounce back. After all, Lin is a very competent shooter. One bad night does not ruin his chances of being at the forefront of the offense.rnrnMore importantly, Lin limited his turnovers and played hard. The Nets game plan had him getting to the paint often and limited shooting from the outside. It was clear from the get-go that head coach Kenny Atkinson was playing to Russell's strengths.rnrnRussell went on a scoring tear, dropping a team-high 16 points. He tied Lin's game-high in assists as well.rnrnThe biggest problem with Russell's game was his turnovers. While he is still learning the offense, Russell looked out of sync at times. He needs to be in-sync with his team.rnrnAlso, Russell's defense was lacking. He came off of the bench hot, shooting an efficient three-of-four from three-point range. More impressively, Crabbe scored 14 points in just 11 minutes.rnrnSeeing him play as a Net for the first time did not bring on too many surprises. Crabbe was great from downtown but did not bring anything else to the table. He is simply a shooter.rnrnThat being said, that does not diminish his role with the Nets. He is there to bring a scoring punch off of the bench.
