This will be the first full season the “Brooklyn Backcourt” duo of Joe Johnson and Deron Williams will not be on the roster. The organization is now four years removed from trading for Joe Johnson and his huge salary. Brooklyn is now transitioning in a new direction and it starts with NBA free agency.

After Sean Marks and the Nets’ Front Office decided to buy out Joe Johnson in February of this previous season, we see Joe enjoying the weather and winning ways of the Heat in South Beach while the Nets may be looking at a treacherous winter in the New York. That is however if they don’t upgrade their backcourt and or add a quality wing player. With many quality players available at the Shooting Guard position, there’s a good chance Brooklyn can enter the 2016-17 season with a shiny new backcourt.

From big names like DeMar DeRozan, Bradley Beal and Dwyane Wade, to guys such as Courtney Lee, Arron Afflalo and Lance Stephenson, there will be plenty of names on the market for the Nets to pursue. Here’s the top-5 free agent shooting guards for the Nets to target this summer.
