Last week, Quincy Acy inked a two-year deal with the Brooklyn Nets. In celebration of the contract, Acy gave back to those who supported him throughout his D-League stint.

In the latest news about kind gestures involving Brooklyn Nets players, Quincy Acy takes the cake for his actions to his D-League family. This comes in light of his long-term deal with the Nets, which he signed last week.

According to Sam Amick of USA Today, the Nets’ newest signing rewarded his former D-League teammates with gift cards, while he gave each of the team’s staff members a pair of shoes.

Many seem to forget about Acy’s collegiate accolades (All-Big 12 second team, Big 12 All-Defensive team) because of his inability to find a home in the NBA. Acy has bounced around the league since being selected with the 37th overall pick by the Toronto Raptors in 2012. The Nets are his fifth NBA team in five seasons, as well as his second since the 2016-17 season started.

The 6-foot-7 forward began the season on the Dallas Mavericks and only played six games before being waived. Following his release, he was acquired by the Los Angeles D-Fenders of the NBA D-League, then subsequently traded to the Mavericks’ affiliate, the Texas Legends. It was there he began to revive his basketball career.

Through 12 games with the Legends, he averaged 17.3 points, 8.1 rebounds, 1.2 assists, 1.6 steals, and 2.1 blocks in 31.9 minutes per game. The Nets quickly saw the value of adding the D-League powerhouse to their squad, considering their 8-28 record at the time. This led to the release of Anthony Bennett and the acquisition of Acy through a 10-day contract.

More from Nothin' But Nets

Despite playing limited minutes, Acy made the most of his time and established himself as an energetic force on the team. He played in four of the five games in his first 10-day deal, posting 6.3 points, two rebounds, and 0.5 blocks. Those numbers may not scream franchise player to you, but they were enough to earn him a second 10-day contract, and his aggressive play was evident of that.

Acy continued to impress the Nets during his second 10-day stint, and saw his playing time nearly double, from 7.6 minutes per game to 14.9. His production continued to trickle in — he scored in double figures in the first two games of his last 10-day contract — and this ultimately landed him a longer deal to stay with the team.

Unfortunately, this week, Acy also faced a setback after spraining his ankle on Sunday during the Nets’ game against the Raptors. And while Acy remains sidelined for an unforeseen period of time, at least we can rejoice in the fact that he can still generously provide off the court.
