The Detroit Pistons have reportedly contacted the Brooklyn Nets about an Andre Drummond trade. Will Drummond be donning a black-and-white jersey come the end of the week?

After trading sharpshooter Bojan Bogdanovic just less than 24 hours before the NBA’s trade deadline, ESPN reported that the Brooklyn Nets are in talks for another move before the 3:00 PM deadline on Thursday afternoon.

Per Marc Stein, the Nets have spoken to the Pistons about a potential trade for center Andre Drummond. It’s unclear what the Nets would need to give up or what they even could give up for Drummond, but one thing is for sure, a trade for a dominant center like Drummond can change the landscape of the Nets franchise.

Sure, Drummond will not be able to come to Brooklyn and immediately get them to the promised land, but he can make an impact rather quickly if traded to Brooklyn by the trade deadline.

Drummond has season averages of 14.6 points and 13.8 rebounds per game. Those numbers essentially speak for themselves and show that the big man can flat out rebound, and he can provide the Nets with exactly that–rebounding.

When you look at statistics, you may not see the Nets as a team that stands out as a bad rebounding team, but it’s not about the total–it’s the timing. It seems that every time a game is coming down to the wire, the Nets simply cannot rebound, and Drummond can help the team do exactly that.

More from Nothin' But Nets

Still, it’s not certain what the Nets can give up in terms of trades, but one thing is for sure: the Nets have plenty of options thanks to the Bogdanovic trade that occurred Wednesday afternoon. Now, the Nets own two 2017 first-round draft picks, as well as two solid assets in Sean Kilpatrick, and of course, Brook Lopez.

Can we see the Nets and Pistons just simply do a swap of big men? Will the Nets need to include more than just Lopez or create an enticing package for the Pistons to pull the trigger on a trade? All of that is in question, but depending on the price, the Drummond trade can be a positive move in what is supposed to be a lengthy and vigorous rebuild for Brooklyn.

And after their first couple of seasons in Brooklyn, it seems that Nets fan always have frowns across their faces after the trade deadline, whether they end up making a trade or not. Let’s hope that Thursday is not one of those days.
