The Nets failed in their attempt to extend their winning streak to three Wednesday night in New Orleans as they fell 105-91 to the Hornets.
Devin Harris made nine of his 14 attempts from the field and led the Nets with 21 points and eight assists. Brook Lopez scored 16 points, but shot just 6-of-16 points from the field. Sasha Vujacic and Derrick Favors contributed 12 and 10 points off the bench, respectively.
The Hornets were led by double-doubles by Emeka Okafor and Chris Paul. Okafor scored 21 points and grabbed 10 boards, while Paul scored 12 points and dished out 14 assists. David West scored 19 points and notched nine rebounds. Marcus Thornton’s 18 points off the bench, on 7-of-10 shooting, were key in keeping the Nets’ attempts at rallying at bay.
New Jersey, often victim to terrible third quarters, got out-scored 26-13 in the third against the Hornets. In all other quarters combined, their deficit was just one point.
