The latest reports from multiple news outlets have the Nets’ arduous efforts to acquire Carmelo Anthony from the Denver Nuggets closer than they’ve ever been.

The deal currently being discussed centers around Anthony and Chauncey Billups leaving Denver for New Jersey, with the Nets also acquiring Richard Hamilton from the Detroit Pistons. In exchange, the Nets would send Devin Harris, Derrick Favors, Anthony Morrow, at least two first-round picks and possibly other players to Denver, while Troy Murphy would be sent to Detroit.

The deal is apparently so close to being done that the outlets reporting the story claim that it could be done as soon as tomorrow. If the deal goes through, it promises to completely reshape the Nets’ roster. But since Chauncey Billups has already stated that he wants his contract bought out if the Nets trade for him, stay tuned.
