If the deal being reported by Al Iannazzone and Adrian Wojnarowski goes through, the Nets will be almost unrecognizable, as a good chunk of the roster will be heading to either Detroit or Denver. Only Brook Lopez and Kris Humphries would remain from last year’s 12-win team, and even Humphries was a mid-season trade acquisition. In fact, if the trade occurs tomorrow, the Nets would have acquired every player on their roster, with the exception of Lopez, in the last 365-day span.
Here’s the latest update on which players each team would receive:
Nets get: Carmelo Anthony, Chauncey Billups, Richard Hamilton, Anthony Carter, Shelden Williams
Nuggets get: Devin Harris, Derrick Favors, Anthony Morrow, Stephen Graham, Johan Petro, Ben Uzoh, two first-round picks
Pistons get: Troy Murphy and possibly a first-round pick
To get perspective on mega-deals like this, I always like to immediately sketch out what the roster would look like. So, if this earth-shattering deal went through, here’s what the Nets’ new lineup could be:
Starting Lineup
PG Chauncey Billups
SG Richard Hamilton
SF Carmelo Anthony
PF Kris Humphries
C Brook Lopez
Rotation Bench Players
PG Jordan Farmar
SG Sasha Vujacic
SF Travis Outlaw
PF Shelden Williams
Deep Bench
PG Anthony Carter
SF Damion James
This version of the Nets would contain just 11 players, so another player such as Terrico White or Dajuan Summers, could be coming to New Jersey from Detroit to get them to the minimum roster requirement of 12 members.
