Four games into the season, every player on the Brooklyn Nets’ active roster has had some playing time. It is very early in the season, but there may be some emerging themes in the Nets’ player performances. Below, I try to assess in one sentence each how every Nets player can consistently contribute to the team.

Point Guards

  • Deron Williams – Leads the team with his passing and strength, but a streaky shooter.
  • C.J. Watson – Quick, aggressive, and takes advantage of opponent mistakes.
  • Tyshawn Taylor – An unheralded rookie who is committed to showing he belongs in the NBA.

Shooting Guards

  • Joe Johnson – Incredible one on one player, good shooter, and quietly scores in a variety of ways.
  • MarShon Brooks – Has so much MarSwag on offense but often looks helpless on defense.
  • Keith Bogans – Experienced veteran defender but unpredictable shooter.
  • Jerry Stackhouse – The old player-coach that struggles to stay healthy and make any impact.

Small Forwards

  • Gerald Wallace – Still athletic, injury prone, and brings relentless energy to every game.
  • Josh Childress – Athletic veteran who cannot shoot well consistently.
  • Tornike Shengelia – Energetic rookie from Georgia, the country, who has good ball control.

Power Forwards

  • Kris Humphries – Strong rebounder, but slow defensively and limited offensively.
  • Mirza Teletovic – Confident, yet streaky shooter and cannot do much else.
  • Reggie Evans – Collects rebounds by overwhelming opposing players with physicality and energy.

Centers

  • Brook Lopez – Excellent offensive player who can score from the post on anyone, but often lethargic.
  • Andray Blatche – Creative one-on-one scorer who loves to shoot, but also slow and lethargic.

Overall

  • The Nets biggest strength may be its balance and depth.
  • The team’s biggest weakness may be its lack of an athletic power forward who is a smart defender.
