Brooklyn Nets vs. Boston Celtics: Preview

Tonight, the Brooklyn Nets will travel to Boston to play against the Celtics, a bad team that has only won two games out of their last ten. On the other side, the Brooklyn Nets won their last four games and have perhaps been the most successful team since the All-Star break. The Nets need to win this game tonight because it will probably be easier than other games in the coming weeks.
Again, the Nets will play without Kevin Garnett because of a back injury. He probably really wants to play tonight against the Celtics, the team he recently played for. Andray Blatche and Mason Plumlee will be Brooklyn’s big players tonight and Shaun Livingston will start. Joe Johnson may not play for Brooklyn because of an injury. Paul Pierce, maybe Brooklyn’s best player in recent games, will play against the team he was a member for fifteen seasons.
For Boston, Gerald Wallace is injured and will not play for the rest of the season, although he probably really wants to play against the Nets, because they traded him after just one full season with the team. Kris Humphries will also play against his old team. Humphries played in Brooklyn for two and a half seasons and was a fan favorite.
Player Comparisons
Deron Williams against Rajon Rondo. Advantage: coin toss
Recently, Williams has played well and played good defense. I think that tonight, Williams will play well against Rondo, the best player for Boston. Rondo probably will also play well, but I do expect Williams to play good defense tonight, as he has done in recent games.
Shaun Livingston against Jerryd Bayless. Advantage: Livingston
Bayless can score a lot of points but Livingston has played better overall this season and is a better defender.
Paul Pierce against Jeff Green. Advantage: coin toss
Pierce and Green have played well this season. Green is younger but Pierce might want to play particularly well because he will be playing once again in Boston tonight.
Andrei Kirilenko against Brandon Bass. Advantage: Kirilenko
This season, Kirilenko has done more good things on the basketball court than Bass. Kirilenko will start the game if Joe Johnson does not play because of his injury.
Mason Plumlee / Andray Blatche against Kris Humphries / Jared Sullinger. Advantage: coin toss
Both of these groups are very small and do not collect a lot of rebounds. I expect Blatche to play very well tonight.
My prediction is that the Nets will win 98-82. We will see the game and make a podcast at halftime.
