Brooklyn Nets Verse Philadelphia 76ers Preview

The Brooklyn Nets and the Philadelphia 76ers will square off tonight at 7 PM ET at Wells Fargo Center as the 76ers will look to avoid history. The New Jersey Nets still hold the record for the worst start to an NBA season at 0-and-18, but the 76ers are close to approaching that feat. The 76ers are currently 0-and-14 and how funny would it be for the winless 76ers to avoid history and beat the team who’s organization currently holds that record. The game is in Philadelphia, but don’t expect it to feel like a home game for the 76ers. The sluggish weather isn’t stopping Nets fans from invading Wells Fargo Center and a group of Nets fans even made a Facebook group to organize their invasion of Philadelphia. You can check out the group here they call it Philly Takeover.

Keys to the Game

Brooklyn Nets: Don’t fall into the trap of a trap game.

The Brooklyn Nets are 5-and-8 so far this season and they could easily be at .500 or better if they wouldn’t have played down to the level of their opponent. The Nets played horrible in their season opener against the mediocre Boston Celtics and got destroyed in that game, They fell asleep against the Minnesota Timberwolves and allowed them to steal a game in their home building and they fell asleep verse the Orlando Magic and almost lost again at home which was the trigger of the Joe Johnson selfish comments. If the Nets play with focus and energy they should have no problem handling the tanking 76ers.

Philadelphia 76ers: Play to avoid history

The 76ers were expected to do horrible this year, but to start off a season 0-and-14 is embarrassing for any franchise. The 76ers should feel ashamed of themselves and they need to play like a desperate, embarrassed team against the Nets. The only chance the 76ers have in this game is if they put everything they have out on the floor and use their speed and athleticism to cause problems for this older Nets team.

Prediction: Brooklyn Nets 110 Philadelphia 76ers 95

The Nets are angry right now and unlike the 76ers they have aspirations of making the playoffs and competing. I don’t see the Nets falling asleep tonight especially with this being their only game over the course of a seven day span. Their veterans should be rested and ready to go and with a good number of Nets fans in the building I expect the Nets to dominate this game from start to finish.
