The Nets have been plagued by the injury bug during the last couple of seasons and injuries have been a big problem for Deron Williams and Brook Lopez. Both Williams and Lopez had surgeries operated on them during the offseason and although they have both suffered minor injuries early in this season, so far there has been nothing major which is a huge positive for Brooklyn. Lopez ended off 2014 with a statement as the Nets center was inserted into the starting lineup and he scored 29 points to help Brooklyn beat the Bulls.
Williams is still struggling and coming off the bench has been hard for the three time All Star to adjust to. Lopez’s emergence on Tuesday wasn’t enough for him to earn a spot in the starting lineup just yet.
If Lopez, Williams and the rest of the Nets team can stay healthy for the entirety of the season Brooklyn can find themselves competing at a very high level. Although it seems routine, staying healthy can be the difference between Brooklyn being an eighth seed or Brooklyn being a four or five seed.
