Brooklyn Nets Versus Dallas Mavericks Preview

The Brooklyn Nets(16-17) will look to protect home court on Monday as they host the stacked and red hot Dallas Mavericks(25-10) at Barclays Center. Both teams are playing on the second half of a back to back, the Nets are coming off of an 88-84 loss to the Miami Heat to put an end to their three game winning streak while the Mavericks beat the depleted Cavaliers 109-90. The Mavericks are on a five game winning streak and since they acquired Rajon Rondo they have played tremendous team basketball. This will be a tough game for Brooklyn, but they will need to fight their hardest and try to come out with a victory.

Joe Johnson is the Nets number one option on offense and when Johnson is feeling it, the Nets are a completely different team then when he’s struggling. Johnson tends to have a difficult time going up against longer defenders and Chandler Parsons certainly has a lot of length. Parsons is 6’9 and he will need to utilize every inch against Johnson’s size and strength.

Parsons is also a difficult player to guard because of his ability to shoot the three ball and put the ball on the floor. Parsons has hurt the Nets in the past and Johnson will have his hands full dealing with Parsons who is in his first season with the Mavericks. Parsons is averaging 16 points per game this season while Johnson is averaging a little more than 16 points per game. Both players are dangerous on the offensive end and this will be a matchup to watch in this game.

Prediction: Dallas Mavericks 115 Brooklyn Nets 91

The Mavericks are red hot right now while the Nets are coming off of a loss and will very likely be without Kevin Garnett and Deron Williams is expected to play, but he won’t be 100 percent. This game is set up for Brooklyn to get blown out and I see that happening unless the three ball is falling at a very high level for Teletovic, Johnson, Bogdanovic, Karasev, etc.
