Brooklyn Nets Versus Boston Celtics Preview

The Brooklyn Nets(16-18) are on a two game losing streak and they will look to get back in the win column on Wednesday when they take on the Boston Celtics(11-21) at Barclays Center. The Celtics are on a three game losing streak and Jae Crowder called out his teammates after the Celtics loss to the Hornets on Monday. The Celtics have massively struggled ever since they traded away Rajon Rondo to the Mavericks and the move to deal Rondo is a clear statement that the Celtics are focused on the future. These two teams have met twice this season and the Celtics won the first meeting and the Nets took the second one. The Nets aren’t expected to have Deron Williams in this contest, he’s listed as doubtful.

Key Matchup: Jeff Green Versus Joe Johnson

Jeff Green

is one of the few well known players still on the Celtics roster and Green carries a large chunk of the Celtics offense.

Joe Johnson

is Brooklyn’s go to guy on the offensive side of the ball as well and when the game is close down the stretch the ball is almost always in Johnson’s hands. In Monday’s game against the Mavericks Johnson was relatively quiet all game, but late in the fourth quarter, the guy they call ‘Joe Jesus’ erupted to spark Brooklyn.

“We call him Joe Jesus. He might not be there when you call him but he’s there when you need him.”-Kevin Garnett on Joe Johnson

Nets play by play man Ian Eagle said it best “Joe Johnson is lethal.” As you can see in the video above Johnson has the ability to get going in a hurry and when his team needs him the most that’s when Johnson is at his best. Johnson’s counterpart Jeff Green also tends to step up late in games when his team needs him the most as well. Last season in a game against the Heat, Green hit a miraculous buzzer beater, over

LeBron James

to win his team the game.

Both Johnson and Green are highly talented players who love to step up in crunch time, which is why this matchup is so intriguing. Both teams are in need of a victory and both Johnson and Green will be determining factors in which team comes out on top.

Prediction: Brooklyn Nets 90 Boston Celtics 78 The Nets are at home where they usually play their best basketball and let’s face it, the Nets are just a more talented team than the Celtics. Although Brooklyn is on a two game losing streak, they have lost tight games that could have gone either way while the Celtics margin of defeat has been at a higher rate. The Nets defense will take advantage of Boston’s lack of offensive fire power and the Nets will win this game wire to wire.
