Contagious Attitude

NBA fans have seen before when a player is either drafted or traded to another team and is able to change the entire atmosphere of the locker room with just their presence. For example, LeBron James was able to do that as a rookie to Cleveland, which is something you really never see from a rookie. Another example is Kevin Garnett. Anywhere he went, the players knew the intensity and demanding presence he would bring with him about winning.

This is NOT to compare Hollis-Jefferson with the likes of those to players at all, because they are two of the top players in the league’s history. But Hollis-Jefferson does have similarities with his personality. For instance, his passion and intensity is pretty evident when he is on the court by his ferocious screams after a dunk or block. Hollis-Jefferson’s improvements from his freshman to his sophomore year proves he has a great work ethic. It is expected that that work ethic will improve once he is with the training staff each day. He also is a guy who just enjoys living life and making those around him laugh.

In the same survey where the rookies voted him as best defender, they also voted him as the funniest player in the draft. If you watched any of the Nets’ summer league games, chances are you saw him dancing to music during the pregame warm-ups. Even though he is just a rookie, his attitude can be contagious throughout the locker room, and he has the best of both situations. When it’s game time, Hollis-Jefferson is locked in. When he is off the court, he lightens the mood with his constant jokes and dances.
