 1. Julius “Dr. J” Erving

Despite playing just three seasons for the New York Nets, Julius Erving will go down in history as the greatest player to ever take the floor for the Nets. He was one of the first high-flyers in basketball history, and he had athleticism that no one had ever seen before. He electrified crowds no matter where he played, and he was one of the reasons that the ABA became relevant. In three seasons as a Net, Erving averaged 28.2 points per game, 10.9 rebounds per game, 5.2 assists per game, 2.3 steals per game, and 2.1 blocks per game. He was voted as one of the 50 greatest players of all time, and in many people’s opinions, he is a top 20 player in history. Despite playing for a very short time as Net, Erving still made enough of an impact to land himself in the number one spot on this list. There are not a lot of players with the abilities that Erving had, and he was extremely influential to the progress that the game has made over the last 30 years. Dr. J certainly has not left the building.
