The Boston Celtics face a tough decision with the 3rd pick. Reports around the league imply the Celtics are trying to package the 3rd pick for a veteran all-star.

But if they do not trade the pick, I think Danny Ainge chooses Kris Dunn. Dunn could be potentially drop because of Boston, Phoenix, and Minnesota having depth at point guard. But Dunn is the guy most ready to step in and play right away if the season started tomorrow.

He could start on opening night if the Celtics needed him to, but there have been reports that Dunn’s camp is trying to steer him away from teams with young, long-term options at the point. Dunn and Thomas could be a nice duo if both can stay healthy.

He can give Boston some more depth and insurance at the point behind Isaiah Thomas and Avery Bradley. Thomas plays tremendously off the ball, so having a ball dominate point guard like Dunn would help. Plus, Dunn can guard bigger guards, taking the burden off Thomas.
