Anthony Davis has played four seasons for the New Orleans Pelicans. He’s missed the playoffs three times in those four seasons, and still has never won a postseason game. Its obvious the Pelicans need to use this pick to get him somebody who can contribute right away, and Jamal Murray is that player.

Murray could be potentially drop because of Boston, Phoenix, and Minnesota having depth at point guard. But Murray is one the guys who are most ready to step in and play right away if the season started tomorrow.

He could start on opening night if the Pelicans need him to. Murray and Holiday could be a nice duo if Holiday can stay healthy.

In a pre-draft workout with the Celtics, Jamal Murray made 79 of 100 3-point in a performance that was impressive by all counts. It also shouldn’t be all that surprising that Murray shot 40.8 percent from 3-point range during his one season at Kentucky. The Pelicans need shooting badly.

Murray might be the best option, along with Kris Dunn in this draft for a team looking for a  plug-and-play prospect. The Pelicans need to bet big to get Davis some talent around him. He can’t be worse than Austin Rivers. Dunn might be too talented to pass up here if he’s still on the board. The bet is Murray, though.
