The Brooklyn Nets traded up into the first-round of the 2016 NBA Draft, sending power forward Thaddeus Young to the Indiana Pacers in exchange for the 20th overall pick. The Nets selected Michigan guard Caris LeVert.
The Nets are starting a major rebuild under general manager Sean Marks and coach Kenny Atkinson. But for weeks, the Nets shopped for a first-round pick, but had no luck until today.
Caris LeVert wrote an incredible and heartfelt letter in the Players’ Tribune, explaining the story of his father’s death before detailing his struggle to overcome his list of foot injuries.
In the letter, LeVert asked one thing: That an NBA general manager roll the dice on his abilities as a basketball player.
LeVert, was once thought of as an NBA mid-first-rounder, but injuries made his stock dip, having three foot surgeries in the last 22 months. He’s a lottery-type of talent, but the injuries have given him a bad reputation in the basketball world.
Lets take a look at the former Michigan shooting guard.
