Brooklyn Nets: Jeremy Lin Fits Perfectly With Atkinson, Nets
By Manan Modi
After being re-united with Kenny Atkinson, not many people realize the potential he has and what he can bring to Brooklyn. He’s intelligent — and he channels this into hard-work, determination, and chemistry.
While being a star performer, he was able to maintain a 3.1 grade point average as an Economics major at Harvard University. If you do a quick search, Harvard is usually ranked #1 in Economics at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, translating into tough, academic course-loads that serve as challenges for the best students around the world.

It’s unfathomable how he was able to compete with top students academically — all while traveling across the country and playing ranked teams at the Division 1 level. His eye-opening play against Connecticut in 2009 solidified his potential for success in the NBA — he almost led an un-ranked Harvard team to defeat the #13 Huskies. In addition, he outplayed one of the top point-guards in the country at the time, Kemba Walker. Jeremy Lin scored 30 points that game while Walker was held to 20. To this day, it makes people wonder how Jeremy Lin went un-drafted.
What many don’t see is the hard-work Jeremy Lin has put in to get to this level.Just by looking at the training he did under Kenny Atkinson, you can intuitively feel why Jeremy wants to come back and play under him. Atkinson pushed Jeremy to new limits and heights, providing the confidence he needed to succeed with the Knicks. I’ve never seen a coach more dedicated to helping a player, who was once considered a nobody, improve his craft.
Also, Jeremy Lin adds to the culture in Brookyln as he can help bring team chemistry. In the off-season, Jeremy hangs out and is friends with famous YouTubers – such as NigaHiga and KevJumba. Many of these younger players on the Nets are in their early 20s, and perhaps they watched these entertainers growing up.
Additionally, Jeremy Lin is a huge gamer and is known for playing Clash of Clans, Clash Royale, and DOTA.
These little things are what make Jeremy Lin a key to the Nets success next season. There may be a chance Jeremy may create chemistry outside of the court by possibly making clans & teams for these games.
Jeremy Lin has gotten the best of both worlds by living on both coasts; he has met people from all walks of life: in academics, basketball, YouTube, and gaming. The diverse perspectives he brings humbles him as a person and will help him emerge as a leader and a brother for the members of the Brooklyn Nets.
