Isaiah Whitehead’s Summer League performance showed why Sean Marks and his staff think so highly of him. Whitehead was impressive on both ends of the floor, showing strong on-ball defense as well as a knack for scoring.

Kenny Atkinson has said he views Whitehead as a point guard, so he spent quite a bit of time at the point this summer. However, I’m not so sure Whitehead best projects as a point, as he doesn’t possess great floor vision and isn’t the best distributor. He does project as a good scorer though, as he can shoot from anywhere and get to the basket. He shot a good 42% from three this summer.

Overall, Whitehead impressed on both sides of the ball. There were periods where he struggled, as expected for a young second round pick, but the overall signs were encouraging.
