Despite playing 24 games as a rookie last season for Brooklyn, this summer was Chris McCullough’s first experience playing in the Summer League, as last offseason, he was recovering from a torn ACL.

And as a result, there were some expected growing pains. McCullough clearly has significant talent, with the ability to score in a variety of ways on the offensive end, including range that extends to the three point line, as well as the size and length to play strong defense.

However, McCullough struggled at times offensively. He shot an inefficient 36% from the field, and struggled to find his shot at times, particularly in the final game against Cleveland, where he shot a dreadful 2-16 from the floor.

Where McCullough shined in the Summer League, however, was on the defensive end. With his size and length, McCullough played impressive defense, and did a good job of getting in the passing lanes and blocking shots.

Overall, McCullough showed off his solid potential in the Summer League, but was prone to struggles on offense. He’ll still likely be a key rotation piece for Brooklyn this season.
