3. Stephon Marbury

Stephon Marbury was an electric player throughout his prime in the NBA. The New Jersey Nets acquired Marbury from the Minnesota Timberwolves in a three-team deal in 1999. As part of the deal, the Nets sent Sam Cassell, who was a tough snub on this list, to the Milwaukee Bucks.

Some of Marbury’s best seasons came with the Nets. He is unique on this list because he played for five NBA teams and played professionally overseas. Only three parts of Marbury’s 13 NBA seasons came with the Nets, but he put up All-Star numbers.

Over Marbury’s two-and-a-half year tenure in New Jersey, he put up the best numbers of his career. With the Nets, Marbury averaged 23 points per game, and 8.1 assists per game.

The 2000-01 season was Marbury’s best all-around season with the Nets. He averaged 23.9 points and 7.6 assists, while earning an All-Star nod in the Eastern Conference.

Marbury, with his play overseas and his entries into the sneaker market, is probably not remembered most for his time with the Nets. Nevertheless, some of his best numbers came while donning a Nets uniform.
