Just thinking about Jason Kidd facing off against Steph Curry should send chills down your spine. Curry is the greatest shooter of all-time.  In the 2015-16 season, Curry dropped a staggering 402 three-pointers.  This beat the previous record of 286, which was also set by Curry.  In fact, three of the top four greatest three-point shooting seasons are attributed to Curry.  Not only does Curry have the volume of shots made under his belt, he is also only second to Steve Kerr in terms of three-point shooting percentage.

However, a common knock on Curry is that outside of shooting, he does not add much to the game.  While Curry is a good passer, he is not at an elite level.  Furthermore, Curry is a liability defensively, as we saw in the 2016 NBA finals.

Kidd was the polar opposite of Curry.  From 2001-03, Kidd averaged 16.7 points per game.  This is a far cry from the 26.9 points per game Curry put up from 2014-16.  Although Kidd was not a prolific scorer, he steadily improved as a shooter and is currently ranked fifth for all-time three-pointers made.  In the other relevant categories, Kidd had Curry beat in assists 9.4 to 7.2 (2001-03 for Kidd and 2014-16 for Curry), and Kidd averaged two more rebounds than Curry.  In addition to this, while Kidd and Curry were essentially even on steals per game, Kidd is a far superior defender than Curry.

Because of the versatility and defense, the slight edge for the point guard goes to the Nets.
