Jeremy Lin: The Five Best Moments in his NBA Career
By Zach Cronin
Wild But Effective: November 13, 2013
In November of 2013, Lin was beginning his second season with the Rockets when the team traveled to Philadelphia for an inter-conference matchup against the 76ers. The show that was put on was wildly extravagant and, despite Houston losing in overtime, showed that Lin can still put up huge numbers.
The Rockets team that he was playing on wasn’t scrub-laden, and his squad could’ve pulled out the victory if James Harden had played–Harden not playing, however, provided the platform. In a bit more than 48-and-a-half minutes for Lin, he racked up 34 points on 10/19 shooting which included nine makes from three, and he added 11 assists in there just for good measure; he narrowly missed out on being the game’s leading scorer, and James Anderson edged him out with 36. The ability to create for everyone around him was very impressive, but what was also impressive was how he handled himself on defense.
He finished the game with five fouls, but it took nearly 49 minutes for them to be called, and that was when he was still struggling with defense–a product of Houston’s lack of teaching. The one thing you can point out that wasn’t so pretty were his eight turnovers and, although it’s excessive, it’s also something that happens from time-to-time when players are putting up huge numbers.
