The Brooklyn Nets tip off the preseason on Thursday. In a new era of Nets basketball, there are several things to look out for when the Nets hit the floor.

The Brooklyn Nets tip off the preseason on Thursday, in a game that will include many first’s. It will be the first time Jeremy Lin takes the floor as a member of the Nets. It will be the first time Kenny Atkinson coaches the Nets in a non-Summer League game. And it will also give Nets’ fans their first look at the 2016-17 roster.

The preseason slate is always interesting. It can be easy to get too high or too low based on results, but it’s important to remember that teams won’t necessarily show all of their cards in the preseason.

Nevertheless, there will be a lot for Nets’ fans to see during the preseason.

From the starting lineup, to the second unit, to Atkinson himself, the Nets will have a feel for how their roster has come together. The starters may not play a ton of minutes, especially early on in the preseason, but we will get a glimpse of Lin, Brook Lopez, and others.

Elsewhere, there are a few position battles to watch. The Nets have capable players at each position, and it will be interesting to see the lineups that Atkinson decides to use. With all of that in mind, here are a few things to watch for, not just on Thursday, but throughout the entirety of the preseason.
