Shooting Guard Matchup: Bojan Bogdanovic vs. Courtney Lee

Looking at the rest of the Knicks’ roster, it will not be necessary for Rose to create offense on every possession. But at this next position is where the Nets may have an advantage. At starting shooting guard, the Nets will most likely have Bojan Bogdanovic. As for the Knicks, they will have Courtney Lee.

More from Nothin' But Nets

Bojan Bogdanovic had an amazing run with the Croatian Olympic team this summer. He averaged just above 25 points per game. That is well above his 2015-16 NBA average of 11.2 points per game. Considering the NBA is much more competitive than international play, Bogdanovic will not score 25 points every night. But he could very well hover around the 18 to 20 point mark. Many are expecting this to be Bogdanovic’s breakout season, and it is hard to argue that. It will only be his third season in the NBA. At 27 years old, he has played plenty of professional basketball and should be used to the flow of the NBA.

On the Knicks side of things, they signed former Net, Courtney Lee. Lee has been an NBA journeyman to this point in his career, playing for six different teams. Lee offers something that most teams search for in the NBA today. He is a good defender who can also hit the three ball. This is important for the Knicks in many ways. They have all the scoring they need at every other position, so someone who can spot up makes a lot of sense. And on defense, he can hold his own against the opposing team’s best wing player.

In this matchup, Lee would be going up against Bogdanovic. Bogdanovic has proven at the end of last season and this summer that he can do more than just shoot. He can drive to the basket and finish. Bogdanovic is also looking to dish the ball when driving to the basket. While Bogdanovic is not the best defender, he will not need to do much to stop Lee. This is one matchup that should favor the Nets on both ends of the floor.
