After 196 days it’s good to say Brooklyn Basketball is finally back! The Brooklyn Nets faced off against the Celtics at the TD Garden in Boston but how did the Brooklyn Boys do in Beantown? How did Jeremy Lin look in his official Nets’ debut? How did Kenny Atkinson’s brand of basketball look? And most importantly how did the team look after adding 10 new players this offseason?
As the game began it became evident that the Nets were going to need energy and hustle to even have an attempt at winning this game. As the game began the Nets would jump out to an early 9-4 lead and really stunned the Celtics as they wouldn’t be ready for what the Nets were ready to do and that’s try to prove themselves as a team. After that point though a 7-0 run from the Celtics put Boston in firm position to win going forward. That wasn’t for long however, as the three point shot became acquainted with the Nets and they were able to just keep knocking down shots from behind the arc to trim the lead. The confidence from making their three point shots translated into energy for Brooklyn as they would cut the lead to one and end the first quarter down 32-31.

As the second quarter began officials revealed that a Jae Crowder three that was previously a two. The second quarter slowly became a three point shootout as the Celtics would gain a double digit lead and the Nets would of course find themselves in a hole. Brooklyn would start cutting the lead thanks to that signature style “grit” that the Nets are trying to establish thanks in part to grit and grind basketball field by Trevor Booker. The Nets would cut the lead to five but then turnovers and and fouls would hurt the Nets, as they went over the limit.
To start the third quarter the Nets would not start Brook Lopez and went with Luis Scola instead. The game would become more of the same as the Nets would continue to struggle and would end a zombie-like third quarter down 97-81.
The fourth quarter looked to be a repeat of the third but then an amazing 11-0 run cut into the Celtics lead. The Nets would continue to do this and went on an amazing near game-clinching run after being down by as much as 23 points with 5 minutes left in the 4th quarter. Bojan Bogdanovic would make a quick three and cut the Celtics lead to just three. That’s as close the Nets would get though as they wouldn’t be able to tie the ball game and would fall to the Celtics 122-117.
