The Brooklyn Nets take on the Chicago Bulls at Barclays Center in what should be an exciting matchup. To add to the excitement, Brook Lopez, who is now well-rested, will be guarding his twin brother, Robin Lopez.
While you probably know Brook Lopez as the Brooklyn Nets’ star center and Robin Lopez as an NBA journeyman, at heart, they are just two twins from Los Angeles, California.
Following their time together at San Joaquin Memorial High School, the Cuban twins took their talents to Stanford. At Stanford, Brook had the better career, being named to the All-Pac-10 team and All-American Third Team in his sophomore year. Robin still managed a talented college career, being named to the All-Pac-10 Defensive Team.
NBA Careers
After two years at the collegiate level, the brothers declared for the 2008 NBA Draft.
As expected, Brook’s name was called before Robin’s. The New Jersey Nets selected the center 10th overall, while Robin was selected 15th overall by the Phoenix Suns.
Although the two are technically twins, their NBA careers have been far from similar.

Brook has spent his entire career with the Nets, while Robin has been a member of five teams: the Suns, New Orleans Hornets, Portland Trail Blazers, New York Knicks, and currently, the Chicago Bulls.
Over the course of his career, Brook has averaged 18.3 points, 7.4 rebounds, 1.4 assists, and 1.7 blocks per game. He was named an All-Star in 2013 as well as an NBA All-Rookie First Team member in his rookie season.
Over his less impressive campaign, Robin has managed 8.5 points, 5.4 rebounds, 0.6 assists, and 1.2 blocks per game.
It would not be surprising to see emotions flare between these two, as they did last year when the two competed. “I hope to really give it to Robin,’’ said Brook following last year’s game against his brother. “He was kind of making me mad out there.’’ Brook ended up beating his brother, but the matchup was very edgy.
