Earlier this week, FanSided released Fandom 250, its rankings of the top 250 fanbases–from sports to entertainment. Sadly, the Brooklyn Nets were not on it.
The NBA division got 13 pages on the FanSided Fandom 250. It is one hell of a list that includes just about anything and everything entertainment related.
Here’s how the NBA division played out in the rankings:
9. LeBron James
15. Golden State Warriors
28. Los Angeles Lakers
51. New York Knicks
55. Cleveland Cavaliers
65. Boston Celtics
67. Michael Jordan-Jumpman
80. San Antonio Spurs
114. Stephen Curry
118. Kobe Bryant
140. Chicago Bulls
152. Seattle SuperSonics
187. Toronto Raptors
The fact that thirteen NBA players/teams got selected is amazing, especially considering the season just started and they are fresh off an offseason. The thirteen that were selected really do not and should not come as a complete surprise. The Lakers, Cavaliers, LeBron James, Michael Jordan, and Kobe Bryant were all included in the Fandom 250.
While the NBA division played out, my favorite team and the team I love to write for and about, the Brooklyn Nets, did not make the list. Not a complete surprise, but still disappointing because the rivaled New York Knicks did make it, and as a Nets fan, I hate the Knicks.
Must Read: How Did the Nets Do After One Month?
While the Nets are not the greatest team in the world, they are located in the best city in the world, New York City. I am from Connecticut and went to school in New Jersey, where the Nets played for decades. Almost everyone I knew was a Knicks or a Nets fan. If you go to New York, you will see a plethora of Brooklyn Nets garb. The Nets fanbase is definitely in the Fandom 250, but, unfortunately, the Nets are not very good. If Brooklyn was a good team, they would most certainly be in the Fandom 250.
Nets fans may be quiet in these darker times, but, they are most certainly around. Having teams like they did in the early 200’s with Jason Kidd, Kenyon Martin, and Kerry Kittles garnered them a solid fan base on top of the fans they already had. This team has been located in New York twice now, has made it to several Finals, and has some legendary players that played for them. They are a top 250 team, but fans are quiet and waiting for their time to shine.

People will say, “Oh look at that Nets fan, what a bandwagoner,” if and when we do well. I will tell those naysayers to shut up because Brooklyn fans are everywhere and will always be everywhere. There just is not much to cheer about these days so why would people check the websites and watch the games when everyone knows Jeremy Lin is out and we are terrible even with him? There are those die-hard fans, like myself, that does check sites daily, or write for sites daily, but there are others that are quiet.
The Brooklyn Nets, once they are out of the bottom ten in the league, will make Fandom 250’s list with ease. Brooklyn fans are everywhere and they are passionate. They just have no interest in watching their team lose all the time–no one does.
Almost every NBA team that made the list is a winning team. The Lakers are not a winning team the past few years, but they have been playing really well this year and they have a young team so people will come back out and be proud Lakers fans. Where were these fans while they had 17 wins last year? Not to mention, the Lakers are an all-time great NBA franchise that has won titles.

If Brooklyn can make the playoffs and compete and even win a ring, without a doubt, they will be in the Fandom 250.
