After another winless week, the Brooklyn Nets rank last in ESPN’s power rankings for fifth straight week, as they seek first win of 2017.

Current Ranking: 30

Last week’s ranking: 30 (no change)

ICYMI: Last Week’s Power Rankings

For the fifth week in a row, the Brooklyn Nets are the caboose of the ESPN power rankings by Marc Stein.

It’s hard to be surprised about this one. The Nets are currently on a 10-game losing streak, and are still searching for their first win of the new year.

While they may be mightily struggling, it’s important to note that the Nets have remained competitive in most of their games. They led the New Orleans Pelicans for a majority of the game, only to blow it late and were neck-to-neck with the Toronto Raptors until the middle of the fourth quarter.

Nonetheless, the Nets suffered another four losses this week, extending their losing streak to 10 games. It appears that they’re the only team deserving of the bottom spot in the rankings.

More from Nothin' But Nets

This week, the Nets will have a couple of opportunities for revenge, as they take on the Raptors and Pelicans again. To finish off the week, they’ll take on the Hornets – the last team they’ve beaten — when Randy Foye hit a buzzer-beating three-pointer on December 26.

The Nets will need to take advantage of this week, as next week, the Nets will face the Cleveland Cavaliers and San Antonio Spurs.

If the Nets can hold onto some of their leads and play a full 48 minutes in the process, maybe we’ll see them jump a few spots in the power rankings. Until then, though, don’t expect them to move.

Big Movers: New Orleans Pelicans, Minnesota Timberwolves (up four spots)

Both the Pelicans and Timberwolves had solid weeks, with the Pelicans going 2-1 and the Timberwolves going 3-1. The move for the Pelicans is a little surprising, considering they beat the Nets and the reeling Knicks. The T-Wolves, on the other hand, looked impressive as they beat both the Rockets and Thunder.

Big Losers: New York Knicks (down eight spots)

It’s not a great time to be affiliated with the New York Knicks right now. In one of the most drastic drops the power rankings have seen this year, the Knicks fell eight spots following the Derrick Rose incident and going 1-4 last week.
