A second winless week in a row has the Brooklyn Nets desperately searching for ways to get out of the bottom spot of the ESPN power rankings.

ICYMI: Last Week’s Power Rankings

The Brooklyn Nets are falling apart.

Not that this is news, but it’s arguably worse now than it ever was. The Nets lost all four of their games this past week, extending their losing streak to nine games. All four games were decided by single digits, but it still was not enough to capture the team’s second win of 2017.

The abysmal week has the Nets ranked dead-last in Marc Stein’s most recent ESPN power rankings for the eighth straight week. That’s right, 56 straight days of being the worst ranked team in the NBA.

Stein revolves his analysis around former Net Yogi Ferrell, as Ferrell just had an incredible week with the Dallas Mavericks. The impressive stint earned him a two-year deal, which he will sign after his 10-day contract is over. This was simply adding salt in the wound for the Nets, who released Ferrell in December.

More from Nothin' But Nets

The Nets are struggling and are still deserving of the final rank, but the Los Angeles Lakers aren’t too far behind. They have just two wins in their past 12 games, but they are still a good step and a half ahead of the Nets this season.

The Nets will have just three games this week, against the Charlotte Hornets, Washington Wizards, and Miami Heat respectively. We’ll see if they can hop off of their losing streak and climb out of the bottom rank.

Big Movers: Dallas Mavericks (up seven spots)

The Mavericks had another solid week. They proved that their win against the San Antonio Spurs last weekend was not a fluke, as they followed it up with a win against the Cleveland Cavaliers this week. They went 3-0 on the week as a whole, capping off a stretch where they won six of seven games.

Big Losers: Philadelphia 76ers, Minnesota Timberwolves, Charlotte Hornets (down four spots)

It certainly wasn’t a good week for these teams, combining to go just 2-9. In fact, all three of these teams are currently on losing streaks of three games or more. That may not be on the Nets’ level yet, but they will definitely need to set the ship straight to avoid a further decline.
