The Brooklyn Nets are enduring a rebuild. A part of this rebuild is acquiring as many young players as possible. While Brooklyn can use more, they do have a solid group of young guys that deserve to show the team and fans what they can do.

The Brooklyn Nets currently have nine wins as of this writing. A large reason, in the eyes of some fans, is because Jeremy Lin has been sidelined a large majority of the season with a hamstring injury. While Lin was supposed to be a leader for this team, Sean Marks and Co. are trying to build a team of young athletes.

Acquiring young talent is not always easy. What makes it tougher is that Billy King traded many of Brooklyn’s picks to the Boston Celtics in the Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce trade. Brooklyn should be getting a number one pick this season if they did not make that trade. Sean Marks has made it work, though.

Marks has made trades to get some young talent on the roster. He also utilizes the D-League system and the Long Island Nets to find more talent for the team.

Brooklyn has acquired young guys such as Caris LeVert, Isaiah Whitehead, Spencer Dinwiddie, and Sean Kilpatrick in his short tenure. Rondae Hollis-Jefferson and Chris McCullough came a little before Marks’ time, but they are two young guys that can be a part of something bigger here in Brooklyn.

While some of these players are seeing an increase in playing time, there are still some that barely see the floor. This is a shame because, in a lost season and in a rebuild, the Nets’ young talent needs exposure and experience. Kenny Atkinson needs to play more of the Nets’ young players the rest of the season.
