7. Luis Scola

2016-2017 Season Stats: 36 GP, 5.1 PPG, 3.9 RPG, 1.0 APG

One of the veterans that Marks brought in to help develop the young players was Luis Scola. Scola has been known as a good scorer and tenacious rebounder. He has taken a few steps back in both areas as time seems to have caught up with him.

In his prime, Scola was an effective stretch power forward with a good offensive skill set. That player is all but gone. The footwork and moves are still the same, but he lacks the ability to finish. When he was inserted into games, he tried to find his touch again, shooting often with limited results.

Scola was never known for his defensive ability, but was a serviceable defender. He has become a liability who is beat often and targeted while on the floor. His rebounding skills have diminished as well, taking away one of the stronger parts of his game.

Although his play was not great for the Nets, his teammates enjoyed his presence. He instilled some of his knowledge on the young players during his time as a Net, which was the goal for the front office. His role was never to be a starter or in the rotation, just to help develop the young talent.

Recently, Scola was cut from the team. His skills have diminished to the point where he only saw minutes sparingly in games. He was a good teammate that stayed positive throughout this tough season, but good morale is all he brought at this point in his career.
