What are your thoughts on the Nets trading Bogdanovic and McCullough to Washington?

Max Prinz (@FreshPrinz5): The Nets got an awesome return in acquiring the Wizards’ first-round pick in exchange for Bogdanovic and McCullough. Sure, that pick will probably end up somewhere in the 20s, but first rounders are incredibly valuable under the current CBA. The players the Nets grab with the Wizards’ and Celtics‘ will be under team control at a great price for four years.

If you’re still not convinced the Nets can get a good player that late in the draft, go re-watch some Caris LeVert film. He was the 20th pick in last June’s draft, and the rookie swingman has made impressive strides this season, despite having to recover from injury.

Charles Maniego (@ignisyon): I think the Wizards trade was the best move that could’ve been done. Sean Marks got what he wanted in a 2017 first-round draft pick for Bogdanovic. Along with the pick, acquiring Andrew Nicholson was also a great move. Nicholson is on a much cheaper contract than other potential salary dumps, mainly Ian Mahinmi (3 years, $45 million left), Omer Asik (3 years, $33 million left), and Miles Plumlee (3 years, $37 million left). Yes, it’s disappointing to see a young guy like Chris McCullough shipped in the deal as well, but trading him allowed the Nets to open up a roster spot for the K.J. McDaniels deal.

Brandon Robinson (@ScoopB): The love affair that the Nets had with Bojan Bogdanovic seemed to be over. It’s as if the Nets were looking to recreate the love affair that they had with Drazen Petrovic, except there was no Derrick Coleman, Chris Morris, Kenny Anderson, and Benoit Benjamin on the current Nets roster. The Nets are still kicking their wounds post-Kevin GarnettPaul PierceJason Terry trade during the Billy King regime. They can use all of the draft picks and financial leverage that they can get.

More from Nothin' But Nets

Washington benefits exponentially now. Bogdanovic will superfluously prosper in the corner pocket from downtown because of John Wall‘s command of the double team and his passing ability. Many thought that the Chicago Bulls would be the biggest threat to the Cleveland Cavaliers coming out of the Eastern Conference. Chicago’s still growing, and the Washington Wizards are capitalizing off the now. Washington D.C. may have lost #44 as President… but they added #44 in Bojan Bogdanovic! They added premium shooting to a young and talented team. Watch out ya’ll!

Jason Anderson (@Jay_A_Anderson): I was a fan of Bogdanovic, but don’t think he was really going to help the Nets move forward.
