Should Sean Marks have done more at the trade deadline? If so, how?

Max Prinz (@FreshPrinz5): I thought Marks had an excellent first deadline. He sold off a veteran rotation player the rebuilding Nets couldn’t afford to keep for a first-rounder–something the rival Knicks spectacularly failed to do. His move to acquire a pair of lottery tickets in Andrew Nicholson and K.J. McDaniels was also sneaky great. Both players carry virtually no risk, and can be huge rewards if the organization can rebuild their value.

Still, Marks did leave the deadline with about $10 million in cap space. There is probably enough there for one more move to take on dead contracts in exchange for a future draft pick (even a second-rounder would be huge), but that’s probably just nitpicking. After one draft and one trade deadline, Nets fans should feel very comfortable in Marks’ hands.

Charles Maniego (@ignisyon): I think Marks did just enough at the deadline. He acquired a first-round pick for an expiring contract, which should be commended. He also took a flyer on a young player, which the Nets need to do. Other moves would have likely interfered with the Nets’ cap space this summer, where they should be very active in the free agency market. Overall, I think Marks did a solid job judging from where he started from.

Brandon Robinson (@ScoopB): Depends on who you ask. He’s playing cleanup on Aisle 3 post-Deron Williams, Joe Johnson, Kevin Garnett, and Paul Pierce. If folks down I-95 in Philadelphia can trust the process, why can’t ‘X Marks The Spot’ for what Sean Marks can do? He inherited a young team that has Ronde Hollis Jefferson, Brook Lopez, Jeremy Lin, Luis Scola, and a rookie coach. It could be worse! The goal is to free up cap space and get draft picks. If folks can be patient with Billy King when the stakes were higher to win, why not empower Marks the same way?

Jason Anderson (@@Jay_A_Anderson): No.
