Eric Moreland

This season, it’s apparent that the Nets have struggled in a lot of areas, but defense and rebounds are two that stand out in particular. The Nets are not sure what direction they’re going in at point or shooting guard positions with a plethora of players at both positions, but one thing that’s certain is that it wouldn’t hurt to gain some depth in the frontcourt. It would only help to have more players who can come off the bench and/or complement Brook Lopez. A player who the Nets could possibly try to go after is Eric Moreland of the NBA D-League’s Canton Charge.

Moreland, of course, is not currently assigned to the D-League from one of the NBA’s 30 teams. He is simply a guy looking to create some attention to himself, so he has the opportunity to sign somewhere. He’s averaging the second-most rebounds in the D-League, with 11.7 per game to go along with 13.7 points.

The 6-foot-10, 249-pound prospect is a product of Oregon State. Moreland went undrafted in the 2014 NBA Draft and signed with the Sacramento Kings on July 30 of that same year. Since then, after multiple D-League assignments, injuries and stints in the NBA, the big man finds himself thriving with the Cleveland Cavaliers’ D-League affiliate, the Canton Charge.

The 2017 NBA D-League Eastern Conference All-Star is currently looking for a home. While it may be a long shot that he gets a call up to the NBA by the end of the season, never mind the Brooklyn Nets, he is very good in an area the Nets have struggled heavily in this season.
