Where the Nets Stand in Their Rebuild

Ultimately, the Nets are currently way behind the Sixers in the rebuilding race. They simply don’t have the draft picks in order to select players with All-Star potential. Yet, they are setting themselves up quite nicely for when they do land that franchise cornerstone.

Marks has drafted LeVert (10th among rookie in scoring), who looks like a steal so far. He also has two more draft picks coming in June, which will ideally turn into at least one rotational player. Gambles on players such as Sean Kilpatrick and Quincy Acy have been paying off quite nicely as well. Lastly, the Nets still have Brook Lopez and Jeremy Lin, who in a perfect world, will have something left in the tank by the time the team is relevant again.

These players will all be fantastic complementary pieces for when the Joel Embiid’s and Ben Simmons’ of the world become available for Marks in the draft. It will be then that there will be a buzz surrounding New York’s largest borough, similar to Philadelphia this season. Sixers fans just endured nearly four years of losing in order to gain the small amount of respectability they have today. Now, it is Brooklyn’s turn.
