Key Plays

The Pistons got off to a 7-2 lead to begin the game, but the Nets answered right back to reclaim the lead. After a few minutes of back-and-forth first quarter action, Detroit started to pull away and held a 31-22 advantage after one quarter. K.J. McDaniels powered the Nets in the second, with his three-pointer and tough finish on a layup sparking a 7-0 Nets run to start the second. Led by Reggie Jackson, Detroit battled back and took control of the game once again. What ensued was more neck-to-neck action between the two teams, until a 19-footer by Rondae Hollis-Jefferson and a trey by Caris LeVert brought the Nets up by six, 50-44, at halftime.

The Nets controlled the entire third quarter, never letting the Pistons get closer than four points. The quarter was highlighted by a floater off some excellent footwork by Brook Lopez, who scored eight points in the third. After three, the Nets had a sizable 74-65 advantage.

But, the Pistons would just not go away. Detroit outscored Brooklyn 31-24 in the fourth, and it would come down to the final seconds to decide the game. With the game tied at 96, the Nets had 2.4 seconds to work out a play. They turned to the man of the hour, Lopez, who drilled his first career buzzer-beater.
