Stay Focused

The Nets have done a good job in just over a year of digging themselves out of the inevitable hole they were put in, so why focus on a team who has dug their own hole? After all, Brooklyn has shown signs of improvement and getting out of the purgatory. The Knicks have not.

More from Nothin' But Nets

With that said, there’s no reason for the Nets to focus on the Knicks and the moves they make. The Nets are their own team, and need to act as their own team and not follow in the footsteps or go down a path because another team chose to. It’s similar to cheating on a test; just because you copied the person next to you doesn’t mean you’re going to be correct.

So for the Nets, the focus by the media and fans on the Knicks is absolutely silly. There’s no rivalry. There’s no tension. There’s no reason to follow in the footsteps of a franchise that is stuck between a rock and a hard place.

And even though it will never be just another game to the fans and media since these two teams share the city that never sleeps, the Nets need to treat it that way. It seems that Sean Marks, Kenny Atkinson and the entire front office has done a good job of doing that so far, let’s hope that continues.
