The Nets found their new head coach and point guard for the next few seasons, drafted two players who are thought highly of and even grabbed some solid free agents and veterans. Sounds like maybe the media would be talking highly about the Nets and not negatively for a change, right? Well, that wasn’t exactly the case.

Just a day before the NBA Draft, the team across the river in Manhattan, the New York Knicks, made a trade for Derrick Rose, essentially kicking off what would be a huge and exciting offseason for the NBA. The Knicks continued making moves, dishing out a ton of cash for free agents like Courtney Lee, Joakim Noah and Brandon Jennings. New York finally seemed poised to make their way back into the playoffs after not making an appearance since getting bounced out by the Indiana Pacers in six games back in 2013.
The Knicks were the talk of New York. All Knicks fans finally had something positive to talk about, and all Nets fans felt like they were left in the corner, with nothing to talk about.
After the Nets missed out on two restricted free agents, Allen Crabbe and Tyler Johnson, disappointment was left in the hearts of Nets fans everywhere. That, topped off with the summer the Knicks had, made Nets fans begin to question how and if the plan Marks blueprinted when he would actually work in the long-term.
