None of Brooklyn Nets’ Focus Should Be on New York Knicks

The whole situation in Manhattan serves as an example that no matter what happens, you need to continue to stick to your plan. This is especially true for the Nets.
Many Nets fans are always keen on what the Knicks are doing and are focused on a rivalry that realistically doesn’t exist at the moment. Every time they play, it should be thought of as just another game. Nothing more, nothing less.

It would have been easy for Marks to dish out money to some of the free agents that the Knicks signed this year and attempt to possibly get the Nets back in the playoffs, but he didn’t. He didn’t because he has a plan, a culture and a vision for the team. Something that the Knicks currently don’t.
Do the Knicks finally take the hard route and admit it’s time to rebuild and give Kristaps Porzingis the keys to the Garden? Do they finally trade Carmelo Anthony or keep him around for a few more years?
There are plenty of plans that the Knicks can follow. The only problem is that they’re not committed to one.

From day one, Marks knew he needed to commit to a plan and stick with it. He admitted it wouldn’t be easy and that people told him he was crazy to even take the job. But, Marks has a rich past in the world of basketball, is a veteran big man himself and had been around the game for quite some time before joining the Spurs organization. Marks was in various roles from coaching the Spurs’ D-League affiliate, the Austin Spurs (named the Austin Toros during his time with the team), to assistant GM, and he learned the ropes from many influential people.
So it’s not hard to see why when things snowballed out of control after mortgaging the team’s future for a championship, Prokhorov called on Marks to finally build him a dynasty, not buy one.
