Johnathan Motley, Baylor

The third year player out of Baylor has been one of the more dominant big men in college basketball and one of the main pieces behind the recent success of the Baylor Bears.

Motley has season averages of 17.2 points, 9.9 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game. Not to mention, similar to Swanigan, Motley has a high PER of 26.9.

Motley has shown that he is efficient in nearly all aspects of the game and has been steadily improving while at Baylor. With improvement and player development being a big focus of the direction of the Nets, Motley may be someone the Nets target.

He has shown that he can score well in the post. Whether he plays with his back to the basket or on the fast break, Motley has shown he is smart, efficient and aware of everything going on on the court at all times.

The 6-foot-9 big man is someone the Nets could use on the defensive side of the ball as well. He has shown his ability to defend smaller players out at the three-point line and has been able to play on or off the ball. That, mixed with his excellent strength and athleticism, can make him someone who intrigues the Nets since it’s something they’re lacking at the moment.

It’ll be interesting to see if the Baylor product will appeal to the eyeballs of Kenny Atkinson and Sean Marks in person or on film come time to decide how to use their picks.
