Brooklyn Nets: Reliving Brook Lopez’s Glorious Buzzer Beater
Good shot?
The play was drawn up to find Lopez on the left side of the court. LeVert was the second option if the Pistons defended Lopez well. On the season, Lopez’s hotspot is on the left side of the court, shooting above league average in anywhere on the left side. He shoots it especially well around the left baseline. Take a look at his Hex Map shot chart on the season.

So even if a Lopez midrange jumper wasn’t the first option, it still was an effective shot. The action probably aimed to find Lopez closer to the basket. But hey, it worked anyway! Let’s do the Harlem Shake to celebrate.
(A Harlem Shake video came up on my ‘On This Day’ feed on Facebook recently. I didn’t participate in any of those videos, but why can’t we have fun things like that anymore? All I see on my current newsfeed are memes similar to “Tag A Friend and His/Her Crush to Ruin Someone’s Life” all the time. Ugh.)
