4. Feb. 19, 2012: Bucks vs. Nets (113-111)

This was yet another contest in which Johnson hit a shot early on to extend the game and then eventually nailed the game-winner. In this scenario, Johnson pulled up around the free throw line in the face of Luc Mbah a Moute and calmly knocked down a midrange jumper to give the Nets a 113-111 victory.

The unique aspect of this shot was how tightly Mbah a Moute, a very lengthy wing, was glued to Johnson from the second the inbounds pass was thrown. There is no doubt about what was discussed in the huddle leading up to this final possession: get Johnson the ball and clear out. It’s plays like these that demonstrate why the name “Iso-Joe” rung loudly on TVs across the country after his game-winner on Saturday night.

This shot moved the Nets to 32-22 on the season. When looking back on the Nets’ inaugural season in Brooklyn, this play, in addition to Johnson’s shot against the Pistons, are looked upon as defining plays of that year.
