Highlights

Many Nets’ fans anxiously awaited Caris LeVert’s debut throughout the first two months of the season. He was still rehabbing, though they would be rewarded near the end of the calendar year. On Dec. 7, 2016 Caris LeVert stepped onto the Barclay’s Center court as a member of the Brooklyn Nets for the first time. He failed to score, however, and posted his first NBA points three days later against the San Antonio Spurs.

As the season progressed, LeVert quickly began to morph his game to adapt to the high quality of the NBA. He cracked double figures for the first time on January 6th against the defending champions Cleveland Cavaliers. He scored 19 points on 58 percent shooting along with two three-pointers, four rebounds and five assists.

14 days later LeVert played his best game of the season, scoring 17 points, five rebounds and six assists. He helped bring home a rare victory for the Nets. Even more impressively he was perfect from the field. LeVert shot 6-of-6 from the field, 3-of-3 from deep and 2-of-2 at the charity stripe.

LeVert continued to put in the work, and got his first career start on Feb. 3 against the Pacers. After the All-Star break, he became a fix in Kenny Atkinson‘s starting five, and only missed one game for the rest of the season, which ended on a very strong note (he scored double-digits in the last four games).

He scored his career-high 20 points against the Magic in on April 6, shooting 58.3 perecnt from the field, along with grabbing four rebounds. His career high in threes came just two days later in a very close win against Chicago, in which LeVert’s efficient 64 percent shooting and four three-pointers ended up being crucial for the Nets.

Ultimately, LeVert scored double figures in 20 games throughout the season, 11 times after the All-Star break. His strong play towards the end of the season was very encouraging, however he did get off to a bit of a rocky start.
