Danny Green

Danny Green not being mentioned when salary dump talks arise is shocking, but i can understand why he’s left off many lists. The San Antonio Spurs are one of the most loyal franchises in the league. However, they aren’t afraid to move someone if they have to. They moved roster staple Boris Diaw to sign Pau Gasol, and it looks like history might repeat itself.

San Antonio may be tempted to upgrade the guard position with Chris Paul, Kyle Lowry, Derrick Rose, etc. entering free agency. They have an old and slow Tony Parker, and while Dejounte Murray may be the point guard of the future he may not be ready to be a starter.

Guards that elite don’t come cheap though, and Gregg Popovich’s team is strapped for cash. They need some breathing room, and the Nets are primed to help out. Danny Green is owed 10 million next season, so he would be one of the first to go.

He would be a great mentor, as he would be the only player on the roster to have a ring, and he would further establish Kenny Atkinson’s “Brooklyn Grit” culture with his stingy defense. The fact that he is a “3 and D” wing and he’d only be on the books for a year makes taking him a no-brainer
