Athleticism

If Marks selects Kurucs, then it will become even more apparent that he favors wings who possess supreme athleticism. A perimeter nucleus of Caris LeVert, RHJ, Kilpatrick and Kurucs would certainly not lack agility and speed.

A solid athletic foundation is key for any player looking to be an elite defender. As shown by an unbelievable dunking display this season, Kurucs has the tools to one day, at the very least, stay in front of even the most prolific scorers at the next level.

As previously noted, Kurucs did not participate in any agility tests at the combine. However, this highlight package alone should convince even his most persistent doubters that he can be a Slam Dunk Contest participant one day:

It is rare when a player who has an elite basketball IQ, solid shooting mechanics and supreme athleticism is available after the lottery. Even with the string of injuries Kurucs has sustained at a young age, and a lack of competition, his positive attributes should be reason enough for a contemporary team such as the Nets to take a chance on him.

He truly has the foundation to eventually be put into a selective category of some of the most irreplaceable players in the NBA. It’s hard to not see a bit of a less effective rebounding version of Paul Millsap in Kurucs.
