Lottery (Picks 1-14)

Brooklyn will need to work a little magic to get into this range. We’d be shocked to see the Nets attempt to move into the top 10, but the back-end of the lottery is a possibility. As the first 10 picks unfold, the Nets could see an opportunity arise, or they could opt to stay put. It all depends. As GM Sean Marks has said before: Everything changes on draft night.

Here is the projected Nets ‘big board’ for realistic options in the latter part of the lottery. These players are likely to be drafted outside of the top 10, but before the Nets 22nd overall pick.

Very high character guy. When Marks and Atkinson spoke with Caris LeVert during the pre-draft process last year, they knew he was the obvious choice with their pick. Marks said, ”That’s a Brooklyn Net right there.” Looking to establish a culture of hard-working, hungry players, does Mitchell fit?

My answer: Like a glove.

So, Mitchell moves up one spot. Collins goes down one spot. While Collins may have more ‘star’ potential, there have been worries about his defense translating to the next level. If you watched Mitchell’s interview, you probably heard him say the word defense about 50 times. No need to worry.
